You’ve probably heard of POS and POP marketing before and use it all the time in your salon. But what makes two similar sounding strategies so different from each other?
POP – Point Of Purchase: This is where the advertising is placed near the ‘merchandise’ it promotes. For example, you may utilise the brand specific posters that detail the use of a product. That poster would be placed behind or next to the product it displays. This can also be used in the salon window for temporary sales or promotions.
POS – Point Of Sale: This is advertising for products placed where the transaction occurs. In this case, your reception desk. This is used for smaller products or last-minute buys. For example, you may have a bowl of product ‘try me’ that sit next to the till and is then offered to include when completing paying for their service. However, this can also be in the form of posters, cards, strut cards or triangle displays.
