Not every day can be packed to the rafters with clients, it just doesn’t work like that – there are always going to be down periods in your business. You can (and probably should) maximise these periods and make them valuable for you and your business. Here are a few things to consider:
Training
There is always training to be done, whether you’ve got a strong team of hairdressers or working by yourself. Maybe re-visit your notes from the previous education you attended? Support team members with technical skills or a webinar you been waiting to find time for? Is there dialogue to improve and practise? Make sure to use your time wisely.

Digital marketing
Content, content and more content – it’s all we hear about at the moment, but we know that in a busy salon having the time to keep up is difficult. NEWS FLASH! Your digital presence is crucial! Time spent on your marketing is valuable, if not a must. Do you have content you have not yet scheduled/shared? Are there emails to write for your clients? What is coming up you want your community to be aware of? Keep your social media fresh, your email’s regular and relevant. Perhaps there is more work to be done around #Salonlove and your business? Implement a strategy and stay ahead.

Planning
PLAN your marketing and education plan. What does the next quarter look like? What education are you and your team attending? What marketing opportunities are in the calendar you might want to maximise? Look ahead and plan around holidays, education event’s and commercial opportunities. Your team will appreciate forward planning. Involve your team in the conversation and develop accountability and commitment. An organised plan will help your productivity, strategic focus and much more.

Refresh
Take the time to do a deep clean of the salon (that’s right!), to many “sweeps at the end of the day” can sometimes leave the salon in need of a good old scrub. Refresh your displays, make it exciting to view your amazing products, tired and old displays are never inspiring and rarely lead to retail purchases. Retail displays are essential for any “brick and mortar“ business and the appearance of your retail can directly affect a purchase decision.
